Cycle Enfield wins prestigious award
Cycle Enfield beat stiff opposition including Hackney Council and Transport for London to win the Best New Cycling Project for the regeneration work taking place along the A105.
Enfield Council’s Leader, Cllr Nesil Caliskan, said: “For the London Cycling Campaign to issue this award for our first major project is a real endorsement of the work we’re doing”.
“We’re creating an environment where cycling is not just for the fit and the brave, but a real choice for many people in our community who are travelling locally. Cycle Enfield will help transform our town centres to improve our transport infrastructure and reduce congestion and pollution by encouraging people to leavetheir cars at home”.
The A105 project is the first in a series of plans to increase waking and cycling across Enfield. Funded by investment for Transport for London, over the next few years a series of routes will start to connect together, supported by a range of additional activities.
People who are out and about on their bike this summer will be able to enter the Cycle Enfield photo competition. Entrants can submit different photos to the various categories and enter as many times a day as they like. Prizes are worth up to £250 are available.
