This week Enfield installed its first bike hangar at Cherry and Bouvier Road estate. Another important step towards revolutionising access to secure cycle parking in the borough, the award winning hangars are communal bicycle shelters, providing an effective way to protect cycles from tough weather conditions and theft. They can store up to six bicycles and have a galvanised steel construction with an air-assisted door. This is the first of eight hangars delivered by Cycle Enfield and Enfield Housing, working in partnership to give housing residents improved access to secure cycle parking. The hangars, along with short-stay cycle stands already widely used, are part of the Cycle Enfield programme designed to encourage walking and cycling and ensure it is easy for everyone to get around.
