Update on cycle parking

Enfield Council is committed to enabling more levels of walking and cycling across the borough. Lack of secure cycle parking is a major barrier to people cycling, especially a lack of safe storage space at home. This will give people the confidence to plan future purchases of bikes to get about and active.

Last December, Cycle Enfield in collaboration with Housing and Regeneration expanded access to secure cycle parking across Enfield Council Housing property. Eight cycle hangar units were successfully installed in February in Lower Edmonton and Enfield Highway wards.

Over the next three years the programme aims to provide an additional 360 secure cycle
parking spaces. Cycle Enfield prioritised flats and bedsits where the population is dense and lack of suitable storage is evident. It also prioritised parking where there is the greatest potential to create new cycling journeys. Data suggests that with improved facilities 21,000 potential journeys a day could be cycled in Enfield.
We achieved to deliver 8 more units in Edmonton Green, Ponders End, Upper Edmonton, Haselbury wards this September.
